What is Spamdrain and why should I try it?
Spamdrain is an easy-to-use and intelligent web-based anti-spam service. It blocks junk email and spam – including unwanted automated emails and phishing attacks that use malware or spyware to access your sensitive banking or credit card information. If you are having trouble sorting out your important email from spam that clogs your inbox, Spamdrain is for you. To learn more about how it works, click here.
 How does Spamdrain work?
Spamdrain keeps your inbox clean by scanning all your incoming emails and blocking spam or junk email from reaching it. Spamdrain works with all types of email providers and across devices and operating systems. To use our services, sign up on our website and connect your email to Spamdrain in a few simple steps. Once your account is set up, the second you get a new email, we check it. If it is spam, we remove it at once so you don’t have to see it. You can review the emails we have blocked on the Spamdrain app. To learn more about how it works, click here.
Why do I need to give you my email address and password to start using Spamdrain?
To be able to clean your inbox of spam on all your devices as efficiently as possible we need access to your account. We will use the most secure method possible. If your provider supports Oauth 2, we won’t need your password. instead, you will only need to approve access to Spamdrain. For email providers like Gmail, Yahoo and iCloud, we recommend that you create an app-specific password for Spamdrain and use that when signing up with us.
 Can I trust you?
Yes, you can trust us. We have safely blocked spam and junk mail for thousands of customers since we launched our anti-spam service in 2004. We value your privacy and have ensured that your personal information on our servers is protected by several layers of encryption and security systems with in-built redundancies. This means that we can keep your data as safe as possible. All we want is a world full of clean inboxes. To know more about the Spamdrain team, click here.
I just signed up for the free trial but I’m confused, I thought this was a free app.
Apologies for the confusion. Spamdrain is a cloud service with a small annual or monthly fee. Our app is free to download but the anti-spam service we offer is not. You can try us for free for 14 days. If you like what we do, subscribe. Else simply remove your account or let it expire.
 How much does Spamdrain cost?
We remove all the clutter from your inbox for less than the price of a cup of coffee, giving you more time to do the things that you really want to do. For more details visit our pricing page.

Yes, Spamdrain is built on Artificial Intelligence or AI that we have tweaked and improved since we launched in 2004. Our algorithm is our secret sauce and is what makes Spamdrain so effective.
Do I have access to the messages Spamdrain has blocked?
Of course, you do. Download our mobile app for Android or iPhone or log into the web app to manage your spam filters and view all your blocked messages. We will also send you reports about all the junk email we have blocked so that you know what is going on. If there is an email that looks phishy but we are not 100% sure, we will ask you to review it. To learn more about how Spamdrain works, click here.
How do I blacklist or whitelist a sender?
Simply report when spam email slips through and ‘allow’ when valid emails get stuck. Spamdrain learns from this and will get better at filtering your email.
How can I tweak the spam filters?
To tweak your spam filters, log in to your Spamdrain account and review the blocked emails. When you tweak your spam filters, Spamdrain will remember your preferences and ensure that it sends only the email that is important to you straight to your inbox.
What do I do if a valid email gets blocked or spam slips through?
Help us help you. If you see any unwanted emails in your inbox, report it to us. Similarly, if any emails you want to receive appear in the list of blocked emails that we send you for review, tap on them and select ‘allow’. Spamdrain learns from its mistakes and will send these emails straight to your inbox the next time. Over time, we will get better at filtering emails in line with your preferences. Log in to your Spamdrain account and review the emails blocked. Spamdrain is all about making your inbox perfect for you. Tweak the filter, teach Spamdrain what you want, and get a more focused inbox, which contains only the email you want to see.
What do I do if something goes wrong?

Pause the filtering. There are many different email providers out there. Sometimes, Spamdrain may have trouble accessing your mailbox or might cause your email client to be locked out because some email providers do not allow multiple clients to access a mailbox at the same time.

If this happens, you should pause Spamdrain’s filtering so you can examine what’s going wrong. You can do this on our website. Click on the pause icon that appears to the right when moving the mouse over a filtered address.

When using our POP3/IMAP filtering it is important to know that Spamdrain will be logging in to your email account by connecting to your email server to remove unwanted messages. Some email providers, however, do not allow multiple clients to access a mailbox. This may result in either Spamdrain or your mail client getting locked out. To prevent this from happening, you could try to switch between IMAP/POP3 filtering or try to make sure you are using IMAP in both your email client and in Spamdrain.
